PARALLEL 10
n a corner of Barcelona, a Filipino woman performs a magical-geometric ritual every day, the meaning of which will remain hidden from the viewer. "Her love for the world distances her from the world," says the voice-over. "There are connections everywhere, but they are hidden." In Paralelo 10, there is no attempt to explain the other; rather, it seeks to grant a space to that otherness, from where the protagonist can unfold in all her complexity. Andrés Duque works from and for the fascination with a marginal being: he captures her intimate choreography and delicately suggests those possible connections.
